IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount)

A surcharge added to Medicare Part B and Part D premiums for individuals with modified adjusted gross income above certain thresholds. Intentional income planning can sometimes reduce or avoid IRMAA surcharges, saving hundreds or thousands of dollars in annual premiums.
